The first summer month in Provence begins with a wedding
Again this year, is Maison du Midi house wedding. It is now something special with weddings during the nice provence blue sky, and we are very pleased to be able to keep it for some of our close friends.
The month of June has been warmer than 2010, and many have again found their way to our lovely place. After the wedding festivities, which were for selveral days, we continuid to welcomes some of our old customers. Specifically, we will mention Carsten and Esther with their children (age 65 for the children). They had again for the 3 time decided to make their holiday in Lorgues. It is nice to be able to welcome an older gentleman of 90 years, and ofcourse the lady's age, we will not mention, but simply notes that we are well in their positive company.
To all our other guests in June, we will simply thank you for the positive words about our Bed and Breakfast, and wish all a continued great summer.

First BBQ evening in Provence at Maison du Midi
The weather is perfect and 17 guests have reported their arrival. This time all Danes from Lorgues, so it feels like being among old friends.
We always try to make our BBQ evenings different, but BBQ is a BBQ and for us it is important that there is a nice and homely atmosphere mixed with socializing under the French summer sky. This year we have chosen to serve the traditional BBQ menu, mixed with a little touch of Denmark By that we mean a symphony of my 3 small desserts. Everything is obviously homemade from scratch.
We start with:
- Grilled gambas and marinated salmon salad
- Beef tenderloin, chicken Bruchetta grooved marinated peach and strawberry and finally French sausages mutarde the dijon.
- Potato salad with new potatoes, red onions and coarse-grained mustard
- Grilled red peppers with feta cheese and capers
- Grilled marinated peach and strawberry with lemon and fresh mint.
- Grilled zucchini Nature
- Grilled mushrooms with parsley and balsamic vinegar
- Green asparagus wrapped in bacon
Symphony of 3 desserts:
- Cold chocolate cake.
- Pickled pears with whipped cream
- Mascarpone cream speculascakes and limoncello
The last dessert was is my favorite and very simple to make. So I will hereby bring the recipe to the delight of others who might want to try.
- Mascapone cream. (About 15 small portions of glass at about 8 oz.)
- 4 egg yolks (pasteurized) 1 dl. Sugar
- Grated peel of one lemon (non treated)
- The juice of the same
- 400 gr. mascarpone
- 4 beaten egg whites
Egg yolks and sugar whipped to foam, add the lemon and cheese cream. Eventually reversed the beaten egg whites in. Brown cake, cinnamon cake or if you can get hold of the traditional biscuit speculas from France, crushed in the bottom of a glass and top it with cream and put it the freezer for apx. 5 minutes to make it cold. Just before serving, add ice cold limoncello on top (about a tablespoon)

Blue sky, nice weather, rolling hills (at least if we select an old Court railway), fields of red poppies, and a nice picnic. “Yes! This is almost beyond belief that we as the owner of Maison du Midi, now four years after we moved to Maison du Midi, finally have the time to go cycling in the area around Lorgues. We have several times been tempted by our guests after a long day come home and told how wonderful area to bicycle in, so now it should be.
It is Saturday and the weather looks promising, although they speak of thunder, but it si Provence, and every think can happens. However we surprised our cats, which frightened flee when they saw 2 drowned mice that returns home. The trip was by no means a disaster, since we both reached the picnic in the countryside and wine tasting in the nearest chateau (Mentone).
Although we were surprised by the weather it is certainly not the last time and it is certainly recommended.
Sunday, 24 April in Provence
Easter ... .... A little bit later than usual, but with really nice weather, brilliant sunshine, a few fleecy clouds and great temperature where we could hand out and enjoy lunch in great company with a lot of friends. It all started with our neighbours had the brilliant idea that we could just do a Easter lunch in our home because we have plenty of space. She's is right, and since we do not mind to cook an Easter party for so many people, it was adopted. Bent was a little opposed to begin with, especially when it turned out that our Godi had invite more than 20 people, so with our 10 closest friends, we could easily reach over 30. And then he was afraid that it was to much to us, and we could not participate our selv.
Well the day came, we hired some help with the dishes, so it went really nice with the 23 persons in total, and we will surely repeat the day next year. Unfortunately we had no more herring from Denmark, but most people would prefer lam, so we got together a menu of:
1. Small blinis with smoked trout
2. Lovely Melon with Parma ham
3. Greek salad
4. Easter lam with herbs from the garden, Tzatziki, baked potatoes and ratatouille
5. Danish Lemon soufflé with whipped cream on top

Painting Course Maison du Midi Lorgues
The temperature has finally reached 25 degrees, and all accounts for a wonderful season. The pool is now the 5th of May 22 degrees, which is still a little bit to cold for Bent and me, but it has nevertheless been used by several of our other guests. We enjoy it from a distance, and use the excuse that we have to work.
Six newly arrived guests chose to enjoy the sun in the garden and get the education from our neighbor "Godelieve" (Godi among freinds) who is teaching painting and sculpture forming. It's just the second time in the 4 years that we've had painting course, but hopefully there will be more. Godi has agreed to teach who feels like it the whole summer. It is amazing to see the finished result after just 4 hours, and without any prior experience. (see pictures)
Provence with the special light and many colors has inspired many artists through the years. The comfortable lifestyle and incomparable light and the breathtaking scenery especially in the region of Aix-inspired painter Paul Cezanne throughout his life.
It's hard to believe, but time has however flown away. Four years have passed here on our beautiful oasis in the south of France. Who could believe that we could find ourselves aligned in Provence, where not atleast the language sometimes causes great difficulties.
"Maison du Midi" a blend of the French Chambre d `hotes, British Bed and Breakfast and studies, has undergone major changes in these 4 years, and we are far from finished yet. It has 5 brand new bathrooms, a perpetually apartment for longer stays, and a lot of paint for windows and shutters. Completely new windows facing the Rue de L `Eglise, which when closed will shut out noise from traffic.
Lorgues has also changed. There are now several restaurants, clothing store, 2 nightclubs, charming new city areas, a new fountain (shared opinions about its appearance) new custom shop with cheese and wine, butcher and greengrocer. The town still has the Provençal charm, not least café life, where you can enjoy a cold beer or a nice glass of chilled rosé wine, but the locals passing by in the nice quiet pace that characterizes the South.
